Charity match for CHASE

I was privileged to referee a charity match to help raise funds for CHASE hospice care. It featured Woking Peacocks FC (this was a warm-up game for their yearly charity fixture against AFC Woking).

Leaping up to challenge them was a selection of players from the Fans Focus discussion forums. Those taking part either play or have other involvement in the Combined Counties Football League (‘supply league’ level within the football pyramid).

It was a great match and the highlights can be seen in the video above. It really helped having two great Assistant Referees on the day and both of the key decisions (foul in the box? goal over the line?) were correct as a result. Plus I can learn from watching my own performance!

I was very impressed with the spirit shown on the day. Of particular note was Smudge who was out there breaking the ice and forking the pitch to make very sure the game went ahead, and is a good example of what real football is all about!
