Hi Niall. Sadly, the pfSense laptop has been decommissioned for a while now as I didn't need the extra functionality, so am back to a 'normal' network at home now. I may give 2.0 a whirl and see how it goes. If I do, I'll report back with everything for you!

Hi there,
Just read your nice article. I was thinking doing something similar. I am just wondering if you had upgraded to pfsense 2.0 and if so, are the pcmcia cards still working?
Thanks,
Niall

Hi Gary, glad you love it too. Let me know how you get on with the protocol. Do you have any favourites to share?

Good read. I'm typing this on my iPad which is now my primary device, followed by my iPhone and then my desktop. For most things "it just works" as Mr Jobs has said time and again. It may not be a revolution but it's a damn interesting ride!

I have broken way more than my fair share of laptop and cellphone screens. (Just ask my compatriots). I even used a laptop with a broken screen for four weeks (I was overseas and knew I was SOL).
Congrats on fixing yours. Another reason to stick with PC's, which now require interchangeable parts and no longer stocked with custom made (irreplaceable and/or extravagant) pieces.

Great tips. I'd also add that the timekeeper needs to take the role with the expectation that he or she will be focusing on the timing and not on the content of the speech. I've seen too many instances where the timekeeper was so caught up paying attention to a speech that he or she forgot to either switch the lights at the right time or forgot to time the speech all together. While this is a great complement to the speaker, it defeats the purpose of timed speeches.

Thanks for the comment, James! Breakfast all-important. I think when I am being 'good' I actually rack up about 900 calories for breakfast as it should be the largest meal of the day. Then I scale the rest down as appropriate. Worked for me before!

Been thinking about a similar campaign. Will be checking out the Daily Burn, thx for the tip! My own tips from last time are two-fold. First, eat breakfast. No breakfast equals non-stop snack cravings for the rest of the day. Two, black coffee has nothing of substance in it, but quite happily kills the appetite for an hour - long enough to get to the next proper meal without snacking!

Thanks Nik! Much appreciated. I particularly noticed this sort of thing at the Chelsea Academy. If there is a foul, ALL the players just stop and wait for the whistle. If something isn't given, they may moan but then just get straight on with it.
